The Chargers were looking for a backup quarterback after Kyle Boller retired a full day after signing along with the team while having come to terms with Kevin O'Connell, Michael Gehlken
of this San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Listed at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, O'Connell started 33 games from 2004 to 2007 for the San Diego State Aztecs. In 2008, the Patriots drafted him in your third round, producing the
first SDSU quarterback for being selected since Dan McGwire in 1991.
O'Connell was introduced in 2009 and has since stayed with Lions, Jets and Dolphins.
